MemoryPearl Videos Won't Play or Lag

Phones record video in many different formats and sizes. If a video doesn't play on your MemoryPearl, or it stutters, convert it to a format MemoryPearl handles easily. It takes a few minutes and works for both MemoryPearl 2.0 and the original MemoryPearl.

Before you convert

  • Give it a minute. After you add files, MemoryPearl needs 30 seconds to 1 minute to read them, and longer for large videos.
  • Check the file type. MP4 videos work best.
  • Very long or very large videos are more likely to lag. Shorter clips play more smoothly.

Convert a video with Format Factory

Format Factory is a free video converter for Windows. These are the settings MemoryPearl is designed for.

  1. Download and install Format Factory from its official site, pcgeshi.com. During installation, read each screen carefully and decline any extra software offers. Once it's installed, you can change the language from the menu at the top.
  2. Choose MP4. Open Format Factory and click MP4.
  3. Open the settings. Click Output Setting.
  4. Set the format. Set Video Encode to MPEG4 (Xvid) and Video Size to 480x480. Leave everything else unchanged, then click OK.
  5. Add your video. Click Add Files, choose the video you want to convert, and click OK.
  6. Convert. Click Start. When it finishes, open the output folder to find the converted video.
  7. Copy it over. Connect your MemoryPearl to your computer and copy the new file onto it, replacing the original video.

On a Mac? Format Factory is Windows-only. Use any video converter that can save an MP4 file at 480 × 480, or contact us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Still not playing?

Send us the video's file name, its length and which MemoryPearl you have, and we'll help you sort it out.
